We help self-employed business owners secure finance, while including their accountant in the process to build a lending strategy that actually works with them, not against them.
This is what we usually get asked
First, we have a quick chat to learn about your situation. Then we'll request some information from you to prepare a proposal. From there, we jump on a call with you, me, and your accountant to make sure the lending strategy actually makes sense and lines up with the advice they've already given you. Once we're all aligned, we go to the bank and submit the application.
No, an initial assessment is just a soft check and won't touch your file. A credit enquiry only happens once you've agreed to everything and signed the application forms giving us consent to proceed.
Our process is to request everything upfront, be prepared to provide documents such as tax returns, NOAs, company returns, BAS, business bank statements, and payslips. This lets us see your full financial picture, vet it all ourselves, and work out the path with the least resistance, which is how we're able to submit far fewer documents to the lender than most brokers. We'll walk through exactly what's needed on the call.
Rates depend on the lender and how your income is structured. With self-employed lending, policy and borrowing capacity can matter more than getting the lowest rate. Sometimes a slightly higher rate gives you a much better chance of approval or lets you borrow more.
We specialise in self-employed lending and work directly with your accountant to build the right lending strategy. We review your full financial position upfront, understand how your business operates, and identify the best path to approval before approaching the bank. This keeps the process simpler and gives your application the strongest chance of success.
Yes and we usually recommend it. Your accountant knows your business and future plans better than anyone, so looping them in means your lending strategy actually supports where the business is heading.
That’s normal for self-employed business owners. If your accountant is involved, we can better understand and present fluctuating income in a way lenders can assess fairly.
Yes, although lender options may be more limited and rates can be higher with a shorter trading history. Your position is stronger if you’ve stayed in the same industry and role and have simply moved into working for yourself. It can be even stronger if you’ve been operating as a sole trader and have recently changed to a company structure.
Because your accountant is often trying to minimise tax, while we’re trying to maximise your borrowing position. If your financials aren’t up to date, we may use an alternative lending path first, then work with your accountant over the next year or two to get you back into a stronger position for a major bank.
Less time chasing documents, fewer knock-backs from lenders who don't understand your income, and a lending strategy that's actually built around how your business works.
Book a quick call, we'll talk through your situation first. If we need your accountant's input before presenting loan options, we'll loop them in. If not, we'll present you with loan options, you can speak to your accountant, and then we'll figure out the best way to move forward together.
You've gone to the bank directly, handed over two years of tax returns, and been told to come back when you've had a stronger year or worse, they just keep asking for more; ATO portals, income statements, endless documents that go nowhere.
You've provided your income docs to a lender or another broker, and because your accountant structured your tax to legally minimise what you owe, it's suddenly "not enough", so you're told to come back once your numbers look better on paper.
You want a broker who actually understands your business, where it is now and where it's going. Someone who works with your accountant to understand your financial structure and tax planning, so your lending strategy actually lines up with what they've already advised.
You want a genuine, long-term relationship with your broker and accountant, not a one-off transaction, something the bank was never going to give you anyway

I work with self-employed clients every day, helping business owners navigate lending without making the process more complicated than it needs to be. Being part of MortgageWorks also means I’m backed by a team that has funded over $1 billion in lending and helped hundreds of clients secure finance.
With the volume of applications we see, I kept noticing the same problem, brokers and accountants were often working separately, and sometimes against each other, leaving the client stuck in the middle.
That’s why my goal is to work alongside my clients and their accountants, understand the business and where it’s heading, and build a lending strategy that actually aligns with the tax advice they’re receiving.
